Join us for a morning devoted to one of nature's most important (and most misunderstood!) creatures - the honeybee. The Women's Twentieth Century Club of Eagle Rock is teaming up with Bee Like Jelly for a hands-on celebration of bee education, honeybee biology, and why these small pollinators play such a big role in our ecosystem and food supply. What to expect A live bee talk covering honeybee behavior, the hive, and why bees matter more than ever An interactive hive experience - get an up-close (and safe!) look at live bees at work Arts & crafts for all ages A short film screening, City of the Honey Masters This event is designed for the whole family, with activities suited to all ages. Please note Because this event includes live bees, we kindly suggest that anyone with a bee allergy sit this one out for their own safety and comfort. Admission A $5 donation is suggested at the door, and all proceeds go directly toward supporting our historic organization, proudly serving the Eagle Rock community since 1903. Doors open to the Public at 7:00pm for Gymnasium for the Mind with Robert Leh, as featured in the just-published book, Party on Purpose, by WTCC member Cheryl Leutjen. “When we’re playing, we’re the most ourselves,” says Robert, president and co-founder of Gymnasium for the Mind, a program that uses improvisational games to enhance everyday cognitive function. “We’re focused on the game, less self-conscious, and our walls come down—or at least lower. Playfulness is a natural state. Just watch children: any household object becomes the best toy in the world.” Gymnasium for the Mind blends creativity, play, and neuroscience. Its sister program, Playful Encounters, brings that spirit to social gatherings through improvisational games. In Party on Purpose, Cheryl writes, "Why play? Because it’s good for your brain and your party. These games, adapted from classic theater techniques, sharpen instincts, boost creativity, and heighten responsiveness."
